All manuscripts submitted to Nusantara Journal of Quranic and Hadith Studies (NJQHS) will be screened for plagiarism using the Turnitin plagiarism detection tool. NJQHS will immediately reject any manuscript found to contain plagiarism or self-plagiarism, and such manuscripts will be returned to the authors for correction. The maximum similarity index accepted by the journal is 30%, with no single reference exceeding 25% similarity.

NJQHS upholds a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism and all forms of unethical publishing behaviour. Authors must ensure that their manuscript meets the highest standards of academic integrity, that all attributions and citations are accurate, and that the work is entirely original. All submitted manuscripts are systematically screened upon submission, and any detected violation will result in immediate rejection. Authors will be duly informed of the results of the similarity check following the screening process.

Plagiarism occurs when an author takes ideas, information, or words from another source without giving proper credit to that source. Even when it occurs unintentionally, plagiarism constitutes a serious academic violation and is not acceptable in international academic publications. The following guidelines apply to all submissions:

• Specific information: When an author draws on specific information from a particular source, such as a name, date, place, statistical figure, or other detailed data, a citation is required. This requirement is waived only in cases of general knowledge, where the information is readily available across more than five sources or is widely recognized as common knowledge (for example, the fact that Indonesia is the most populous Muslim-majority country in the world).
• Ideas and arguments: When an author adopts an idea from another author, a citation is required, even if the author subsequently develops that idea further. This applies to interpretive approaches, methodological choices, conclusions drawn from data, and broad scholarly arguments. In cases where the author builds upon an existing idea, the original source must still be cited, after which the author may articulate their own developed perspective in a subsequent sentence.
• Direct quotations: When an author reproduces the exact words of another author, both a citation and quotation marks are required. Whenever four or more consecutive words are identical to a previously published source, quotation marks must be used to indicate the use of another author's original language. A citation alone is not sufficient in such cases.

NJQHS takes academic integrity seriously, and the editors reserve the right to withdraw acceptance from any manuscript found to violate the standards outlined above. The editorial team, in conjunction with the publisher, peer reviewers, ethics committee, and relevant scholarly bodies, will take appropriate responsive measures whenever ethical concerns are raised with regard to a submitted or published manuscript. Every reported act of unethical publishing behaviour will be thoroughly investigated, regardless of when it is discovered, including years after publication.
